Liverpool 0-0 Chelsea

Reina Finnan Skrtel Carragher Riise Mascherano Lucas Kuyt Gerrard Babel Crouch Jorge Valdano would not have been pleased with todays match. Id hate to hear what hed call this having referred to last years Champions League semi-final as shit on a stick. It was pretty much par for the course as Liverpool/Chelsea matches go, especially when you consider that both teams were without their top scorer, among others missing. Neither team had much time on the ball while neither was able to impose their style of play. The midfield was packed, and both teams gave the ball away too cheaply and too often. And predictably, neither side created many chances.  read more »

The De Canio Era: Marking His First Six Months at QPR

- Today marks the six months point since Luigi De Canio was officially announced as QPR's new manager (rather than the reported to be Francesco Guidolin), replacing Caretaker Manager Mick Harford (who himself replaced John Gregory who in turn had replaced Gary Waddock who had replaced Ian Holloway who had replaced...and so on!) At the time of the appointment, there were a number of messageboard posters expressing discontent that Harford had not been given a longer period to prove himself. De Canio's record thus far (taking over a relegation-doomed looking team): is 47 points from 33 league games. With one game remaining QPR currently have 58 points from 45 games (Home: 10 wins, 6 draws, 6 defeats.  read more »

QPR's Point at Barnsley - Additional Match Reports

- Independent - Barnsley 0 QPR 0: Shot-shy Barnsley fail to fire as Campbell-Ryce left unrewarded Jamal Campbell-Ryce's glowing performance should have determined this game in Barnsley's favour last night. He gave the QPR full-back Damien Devaney a torrid time, but the only problem was that the Tykes lacked a striker with a fiery finish. "We've got a point but possibly with the chances we had we were disappointed that we didn't take all three," said Simon Davey, Barnsley's manager. "I think people have got to appreciate that conditions were poor. The wind was swerving round and lots of passes went astray." Istvan Ferenczi held the ball up well for Brian Howard who sneaked behind a somewhat ponderous Rangers back line and stung Lee Camp's palms with his drive.  read more »

QPR's 3-1 Loss at Cardiff - Reports and Comments

-
QPR Official Site - De Canio Post Match
IT WAS NOT THE REAL QPR'
Luigi De Canio was at a loss to explain QPR's below-par display after the 3-1 defeat to Cardiff City.
A brace from Joe Ledley and a Paul Parry goal put the Bluebirds in control, and although Patrick Agyemang pulled one back for the R's late on, a 3-1 defeat flattered Rangers.
"I'm very disappointed. We could and we should have played a better game," De Canio told www.qpr.co.uk.
"We simply got it wrong on the night. We didn't have the right attention on the pitch, or the right determination.
It was not the real QPR out there, but credit to Cardiff. They really surprised us and took full advantage of our mistakes.
"The first goal was a very disappointing one to concede and we never recovered."  read more »

During the 2006/07 campaign, John Gregory brought Camp back to West London to play an integral role in the final three months of the season.  read more »
